Itinerary Day 1-10

Day 1

Welcome to your Argentinian food and wine adventure! Our Argentina wine tours begin in Buenos Aires. A private driver will be waiting to take you from the airport to your first destination: Recoleta, a highly fashionable neighborhood known for its immaculate French architecture and luxurious lifestyle. You’ll see for yourself as you arrive at the Four Seasons Buenos Aires, a stunningly historic mansion that sets the bar for your luxurious escape.

Once settled, take in the city at your own pace, either with complimentary lunch at the hotel or with a stroll along Recoleta’s iconic wide avenues. The afternoon is yours to relax at a chic nearby café for coffee and pastries, pick up last-minute necessities on Avenida Alvear, or explore the storied monuments and mausoleums of the famed La Recoleta Cemetery.

As evening begins to set on the city, join your fellow travel companions at the hotel for a glass of wine or two during our welcome reception. Don’t spoil your appetite, though, as traditional Argentinean fare is on the menu for your first evening in Buenos Aires. At La Cabana in the Puerto Madero neighborhood, you’ll feast on steak and wine at this prestigious and historic restaurant. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of Puerto Madero before returning to the Four Seasons Buenos Aires to relax in the pool or indulge in after-dinner drinks at The Pony Line lounge.

Day 2

The mood for your first full day in Buenos Aires is decidedly set as you enjoy breakfast at the hotel. As you dine on local flavors in this scenic setting, prepare to discover the heart and soul of the city during the morning’s tour of Buenos Aires’ southern neighborhoods. During this half-day tour, you’ll explore iconic neighborhoods including the European-flavored La Boca, the waterfront-filled Puerto Madero, and historic San Telmo.

Of course, there’s no better way to get to know the local culture than to eat as the locals do. Our Argentina wine tours include lunch at a traditional bodegón: La Popular de San Telmo. Enjoy homemade Argentinian dishes under festive décor and ceiling murals honoring the country’s love of soccer.

After returning to the Four Seasons Buenos Aires, take some time to relax and recharge before the evening’s food and wine festivities. One surefire way to relax is at the spa, where the Porteño Tango Massage combines relaxation with culture as your body is massaged to the beats of Argentinian tango music. Arts and culture aficionados can take a short walk to El Ateneo Grand Splendid, considered one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, or immerse themselves in Argentinian art at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes.

Save some excitement for dinnertime, as tonight’s meal promises to make an impression. After all, you’ll be dining at one of Buenos Aires’ top restaurants: Pura Tierra. Here, Chef Martin Moltini takes your taste buds on a tour of Argentina’s most local and authentic flavors. Sample freshly sourced produce from the country’s best markets, try exotic meats like rabbit and wild boar, and discover the true secret to Argentinian cuisine: the clay oven. You’ll find plenty of reasons to raise a glass as several Argentinian wines are served with each course.

Day 3

Today, we discover some of Argentina’s most iconic national treasures, from musical-inspiring first ladies to one of the world’s most romantic dance styles.

Since it would be impossible to capture the beauty, history, and mystique of the Argentinian capital in a single day, we’ll continue our exploration of Buenos Aires with a half-day tour of the northern neighborhoods. Highlights include the stunning architecture of Recoleta, the high-energy atmospheres of the Palermos, and the sprawling greenspaces of Belgrano. After a tour of these neighborhoods, we’ll take a deeper look into the life of one of Argentina’s most famous women: Evita Perón. At Museo Evita, you’ll discover the life behind the legend of the country’s famed heroine. The controversial first lady’s immaculate wardrobe is a must-see before lunch at the museum’s café.

After lunch, you’ll have the afternoon to explore Buenos Aires at your leisure. Take the opportunity to visit one of the nearby museums, if you didn’t yesterday, or see the incredible local art galleries.

Dinner in itself promises to be a cultural treat. At Café de los Angelitos, feast on your choice of grilled meats and decadent desserts as you sip on Argentinian wines. After dinner, you’ll be mesmerized as dancers tango their way across the stage during an unforgettable performance, showcasing the moves, music, and elegance that have made the tango one of the most notable dance styles in the world.

Day 4

After four days of exploring, dining, and sipping your way across the city, it’s time to say “Chau, suerte” to Buenos Aires. After breakfast, you’ll take a short, 90-minute flight to Mendoza, one of Argentina’s premier wine destinations. A guide will whisk you from the airport to your first authentic Argentinian wine experience in the notable Luján de Cuyo region. Your destination? Bodega Benegas, a winery known for its red varietals. This historic winery boasts a beautiful vineyard and exquisite wines, which you’ll sample during your Argentina vineyard tour.

Next, we’ll visit the neighboring Bodega Vistalba and its picturesque vineyards, where wine tasting and lunch are on the menu. The four-course lunch is a highlight of the day, pairing wines with local cheeses, meats, and dishes like empanadas.

After lunch, it’s time to check into your home away from home for the next two nights: Cavas Wine Lodge. With its 55 acres of vineyards set at the foot of the Andes Mountains, Cavas Wine Lodge is a destination fit for wine aficionados, and the 18-room boutique property ensures an intimate experience. Take the afternoon to enjoy the pool or treat yourself to a special wine therapy treatment at the spa.

As night begins to fall against the snowcapped Andes, make your way to the hotel’s restaurant to meet your fellow travelers for dinner. Here, each dish takes special care to showcase the freshest flavors of the season. The pairing dinner will also feature a few of this Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant’s finest vintages, the perfect end to your first day in Mendoza’s wine country.

Day 5

Wake up to a breathtaking view of the Andes from your room before joining the group for breakfast at the hotel. Today, you’ll enjoy tastings at several local wineries, capped by an incredible dinner at one of the area’s most notable restaurants.

Your first stop today is Matevinis, one of Mendoza’s more unique wineries. Not only are the winemakers formerly from Achaval-Ferrer, but the entire winery is run on solar power, making this an eco-friendly stop for fine wines and impeccable service. While here, you’ll tour the winery and enjoy tastings of various Argentinian wines.

Next, you’ll discover the sustainable vineyards of Finca Decero, which means “from scratch.” The winery’s hands-on approach to winemaking translates into fine, handcrafted wines you’ll sample during a special lunch featuring the seasonal flavors of Argentina.

After lunch, you’ll return to the Cavas Wine Lodge for a leisurely afternoon. Take a closer look at the vineyards, lounge poolside with your fellow travelers, or treat yourself to a few hours at the spa.

Before dinner, you’ll experience the varietals of another Mendoza winery: CARO. Built from a partnership between the Catena family and Barons de Rothschild, CARO transcends Argentinian and French cultures through its masterful use of each producer’s signature grapes: Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Dinner is just next door at the famous Francis Mallmann 1884 Restaurante, the flagship restaurant of one of the country’s most well-known chefs. Argentinian-style grilled meats are elevated here with a clay oven and wood-fired grill, and the wine pairings make this a dinner to be remembered for years to come.

Day 6

Waking up on the second day in the Mendoza wine region, you will explore the Maipú region, the second of the three major regions in Mendoza.

Begin your day at Bodegas López, a historic, family-run winery founded in 1898. Enjoy the tour with tastings of classic Argentine wines, with the elegant setting and rich history making it a perfect introduction to Maipú’s wine culture.

After Bodegas López, we head to Head Finca Bravi. This boutique winery is known for its intimate atmosphere and artisanal wines. It’s a great contrast to the larger estates and offers a more personal tasting experience.

Now it’s time to relax and enjoy lunch at Antigal Authentic Flavors. Antigal’s on-site restaurant, which pairs gourmet Argentine cuisine with their award-winning wines. The ambiance is refined yet relaxed, perfect for a midday break. After lunch, we will complete our tour with a visit to this elegant winery known for its night-harvested wines. The tasting here is a sensory experience, and the staff are passionate about their craft.

Day 7

Today, you’ll come to know another of Argentina’s famed wine regions, but before you embark, take the morning to enjoy the plush amenities of the Cavas Wine Lodge one last time. If you haven’t experienced the spa yet, why not start your day with a wine bath, hot stone massage, or an anti-aging facial mask?

Your next destination is the Uco Valley, but before we arrive, we’ll stop at Bodega Ruca Malen for a multi-course lunch in the vineyards. Each course will be paired with one of the winery’s varietals, all enjoyed with views of the Andes and the winery’s expansive vineyards.

After lunch, you’ll check into The Vines Resort & Spa, known for its laidback luxury at the foot of the Andes. Stone accents and earth tones in each room complement the natural beauty of the surrounding Uco Valley, while the lush vineyards and ample water features offer incredible views from every room. Explore the beauty of the resort and Uco Valley before joining the group for dinner at the hotel.

Please note that specific winery visits are subject to change. Any adjustments will always maintain the same high quality and overall experience of the tour.

Day 8

Without a doubt, your first full day in Uco Valley should be spent experiencing what this area is most famous for: wine. We’ll start our adventure at Bodega Salentein, a winery that produces familiar names like Killka and its namesake Salentein. Not only will you enjoy a tour of the beautiful winery and tastings of its finest wines, but you can also take in the exhibits at the winery’s small art museum.

Next, we head to Familia Zuccardi, a Maipú-based winery that recently opened a facility in Uco Valley. Upon arrival, take in the striking minimalist architecture of this outstanding winery. You’ll see firsthand the difference between the soils of Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo, and then you’ll taste the difference during our wine tasting lunch.

After lunch, we’ll return to The Vines Resort & Spa for an afternoon break. Those who are feeling adventurous can scale the outdoor climbing wall or mountain bike through the vineyards. Looking to relax? The resort’s yoga classes and spa treatments are calling your name.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner down the road at Gimenez Riili Winery, a family-owned vineyard. The traditional barbecue dinner will be paired with wines straight from the bodega, a flavorful end to your first full day in Uco Valley.

Day 9

Your last full day with Tango Tours is filled with bodegas, learning experiences, and of course, wine. After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll travel to Clos de los Siete, a collection of four bodegas spanning 2,100 acres of vines at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The bodegas — Bodega y Viñedos Monteviejo, Cuvelier los Andes, DiamAndes, and Bodega Rolland — are run by four renowned winemaking families from Bordeaux. Each produces its own wine, but their collaboration, Clos de los Siete, is a must-try. After sampling wines from each of the bodegas, you’ll enjoy lunch at Bodega DiamAndes before returning to The Vines.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy. Take this last opportunity to enjoy the resort’s amenities, or rest up for our final dinner at Casa de Uco, a wine resort with unforgettable red varietals. Enjoy a few final Malbecs as you reminisce over your favorite food and wine experiences before bidding farewell to your traveling companions.

Day 10

All good things must come to an end, as they say, and today marks the last day of your Argentina wine tours with Tango Tours. An airport transfer will be ready after you check out of The Vines, though who would blame you if you decided to extend your stay in South America?
